Construction is underway on a major new healthcare development by UT Southwestern Medical Center and Children’s Health.
The $5 billion UT Southwestern Medical Center and Children’s Health campus, located on a 33-acre site, will include two 12-story towers, an eight-story facility, a state-of-the-art fetal care center, and more than 20 acres of landscaped green space. According to the Dallas Business Journal, the facility is slated to open with 552 beds.
Groundbreaking took place in October, and the project has now moved into full-scale site preparation. Activities include soil removal, pier drilling, and the installation of two of the nine planned tower cranes. Once completed, the campus will encompass 4.7 million square feet of building space and will replace the existing Children’s Medical Center Dallas.
HKS Inc. and Perkins & Will are leading the design and architectural efforts, while the McCarthy Vaughn Partnership serves as the construction manager. With the three-year planning phase now complete, the project team plans to release additional design details soon.
