The 10-year master expansion plan will add 1 million square feet to the campus, which currently spans 2.5 million square feet. Plans call for a new 700,000-square-foot medical tower.
The forthcoming campus could amount to the most significant Colorado investment made by CommonSpirit for several years. The system chose the south suburban location because of rapid population growth in the area coupled with projections that over 65% of Douglas County’s population is expected to reach the age of 65 or older before 2030.
Economic challenges are expected to ease in the upcoming year, allowing the medical outpatient sector to further stabilize and grow, particularly in new geographical areas to better serve patients that live farther away from traditional city centers and hospital locations.
