According to a letter from St. Johns County Growth Management, AdventHealth plans to develop an 88-bed hospital and office space on land it purchased within World Commerce Center in St. Augustine.
The Southlake City Council approved a site plan for the building during their Feb. 4 meeting. The new 32,116-square-foot, standalone building will be located to the east of the Methodist Southlake Medical Center.
While billions of dollars are invested in hospital construction projects, many worry that the region is falling behind as higher financing costs, rising construction expenses, and outdated facilities complicate expansion.
