Madrid-Based Cancer Diagnostics Company Opens Location In Dallas’ Pegasus Park

A cancer diagnostics company based in Madrid, Universal DX, has opened a new office in West Dallas.

The company will establish itself at Bridge Labs within Pegasus Park, a 135,000-square-foot facility designed to support both emerging and established biotech companies as part of a broader biotech campus.

Founded in 2012, Universal DX collaborates with 140 clinical partners in 10 countries and focuses on early detection of colorectal cancer. In August, the company announced it had secured the necessary funding for a clinical trial of its DNA test, Signal-C, which aims to detect colorectal cancer and advanced precancerous lesions.

The company’s technology, which incorporates artificial intelligence and computational biology, has the potential to be adapted for other types of cancer as well.

“We are excited to expand our presence beyond our headquarters in Spain and become part of the vibrant ecosystem at Pegasus Park,” said Juan Martinez-Barea, Executive President of Universal DX, in a news release.

Bridge Labs, which opened its two-floor facility in September with support from Dallas’ economic incentives, is a key player in fostering innovation in the region. District 6 Dallas City Council Member Omar Narvaez has referred to the campus and Bridge Labs as vital components of an economic engine, driving desirable STEM jobs to Dallas and West Dallas while fostering innovation in the life sciences.

Currently, about 46% of Bridge Labs’ space is leased. The campus is home to over 20 universities, nonprofits, biotech firms, and life sciences accelerator programs. It was selected last year as the site for the Customer Experience Hub of the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health, a $3 billion federal agency focused on advancing biomedical and health breakthroughs.

An economic analysis predicts that Pegasus Park will generate $1.9 billion in annual gross product and create over 15,000 jobs in the Dallas area.
