According to the announcement, RHG plans to make significant investments in the Steward Health Care System’s infrastructure, which will allow providers to continue seeing patients in existing clinics across the network. The transaction will separate the network from Steward’s hospital system, transitioning clinics from health system-owned to independent.
Steward Health Care is canceling its auction for its first round hospitals, which include facilities in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Arkansas and Louisiana, after failing to drum up competition for properties, according to bankruptcy documents. Steward’s Ohio and Pennsylvania hospitals failed to lure any buyers during the months-long marketing process.
Steward took this voluntary step as a necessary measure to allow the company to continue to provide necessary care to its patients in their communities without disruption.
