Two Major Health Systems Move To Reshape Denver’s Care Network

AdventHealth and Intermountain Health have signed a definitive agreement to combine much of their Greater Denver operations in a newly formed joint venture.

The proposed organization would include eight hospitals, dozens of physician practices and an extensive network of clinics, urgent care facilities and off-site emergency centers. AdventHealth would lead and manage the venture’s daily operations.

AdventHealth plans to contribute all five of its Denver-area hospitals:

• AdventHealth Avista
• AdventHealth Castle Rock
• AdventHealth Littleton
• AdventHealth Parker
• AdventHealth Porter

Intermountain Health would add three hospitals:

• Good Samaritan Hospital
• Lutheran Hospital
• Platte Valley Hospital

Intermountain Health Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver would not be included in the partnership.

The organizations said that combining their regional capabilities could expand access to care, strengthen clinical services and create a more coordinated experience for patients and medical teams. The venture would also bring a sizable portfolio of hospital, outpatient and physician-practice real estate under a unified operating platform.

AdventHealth is expected to hold a majority interest in the new organization, although the final ownership structure will depend on the agreed valuation of each system’s contributed assets.

For Denver’s healthcare real estate market, the transaction could affect future capital investment, facility planning and outpatient expansion throughout one of the country’s growing metropolitan regions. A more integrated network may also influence where the systems add services, consolidate operations or pursue new medical facilities.

The transaction remains subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in early 2027. Denver’s already concentrated hospital market could make the regulatory review an important part of the process.
