Panama City Beach Set To Open New 80,000-Square-Foot Medical Office

Panama City Beach is set to open a brand-new 80,000-square-foot medical office in the next few months.

Bay County Economic Development Alliance President Becca Hardin told WFSU that St. Joe real estate company, Florida State University, and Tallahassee Memorial Hospital has had a hand in the project since 2022.

“It’s really a game changing project for not only Panama City Beach, but Bay County and the entire region,” said Hardin.

Construction on this first medical facility began in January 2023. The development is being built on 87-acres of land donated by the St. Joe Company, which sits near State 79 and Philip Griffitts Sr. Parkway.

The city posted on its website in March that the office building will be “home to TMH Physician Partners – Primary Care, an urgent care center, an ambulatory surgery center and cardiology services.”

“We are excited to work with St. Joe and FSU on this monumental project,” said TMH President and CEO Mark O’Bryant. “Together, we have the opportunity to create an outstanding training and research platform for the people of Northwest Florida.”

The Bay County Economic Alliance expects the medical office to be complete in the next few months. Meanwhile, the city plans to have its first in-patient hospital built in the next three years.

Future development plans include an emergency center and a 100-bed inpatient facility, offering services such as gastroenterology, orthopedics, urology, gynecology, cardiology and general surgery.

FSU intends to use the campus as a training ground for its nursing students. The hospital is scheduled to open sometime in 2027.
